This is an excellent opportunity for a QUANTITATIVE ANALYST to become a Portfolio Manager for a leading Asset Manager in South Africa.
Based in Cape Town, this role is paying R1M – R1.25M

THE ROLE:
As a Quantitative Analyst stepping into a Portfolio Manager role, you will be enhancing the efficiency and scalability of both domestic and international passive investment strategies. You will be responsible for identifying, designing and implementing solutions to automate key processes within the passive portfolio management lifecycle.
This will include conducting analysis of existing passive portfolio management systems and workflows, and identifying opportunities for automation. It will involve recommending new systems and technologies to optimise portfolio construction, trading, rebalancing, reporting, and compliance processes. The role includes working with developers and vendors to implement and integrate systems to improve data flow and functionality. It also involves identifying and managing potential risks, including data integrity, market, liquidity, corporate events, and tracking error risks. Regular responsibilities include analysing portfolio performance against benchmarks, assessing tracking error, and reporting performance metrics to management.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years of quantitative investment experience (passive strategies preferred)
Quantitative degree or professional qualification (e.g. CFA, actuarial track)
Strong Excel and SQL/database skills
Familiarity with portfolio construction, investment operations, or risk concepts
Comfortable working with systems and data workflows
Experience with Python or R for automation or process improvement is an advantage
