This is a high-impact opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist to build and deploy production-grade machine learning solutions that influence critical decisions across one of South Africa’s largest healthcare insurers.
This Senior Data Scientist role is based in Cape Town (hybrid), paying between R850K-R1M per annum.

THE ROLE:
You’ll take full ownership of the design and deployment of predictive and prescriptive models that drive decision-making across the business. From risk scoring and operational efficiency to fraud detection and customer behaviour analysis, you’ll work across a wide range of high-impact use cases.
This is a hands-on role where you will manage the full data science lifecycle. You’ll be responsible for data preparation, feature engineering, model training, and deployment into AWS production environments. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and deliver solutions that are practical, scalable, and measurable.
You’ll play a key role in building solutions powered by large volumes of structured and unstructured data across healthcare, insurance, and behavioural domains. These models will run in real time and directly support better health outcomes and cost efficiency.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
Postgraduate degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
4+ years of experience in data science, including at least 3 years in software or cloud development
Extensive experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python), business analytics software (e.g. SAS) statistical package (e.g. R).
Experience working with big data platforms and building scalable data solutions
Solid understanding of AWS
