Based in South Africa (REMOTE work), this DATA SCIENTIST role offers a SALARY of R850K – R950K.

THE ROLE:

As a DATA SCIENTIST you will join a team responsible for leveraging their advanced data analysis and machine learning skills to solve complex business problems and drive data-driven decision-making.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES will include:

Develop Machine Learning Models.

Data Preparation and Analysis.

Work alongside software engineers, data engineers, and product teams to integrate AI into solutions and IoT platforms.

Advanced Data Visualisation.

Optimise Existing Models.

Keep up with advancements in AI, IoT, and data analytics.

Conduct research and develop data science and machine learning models that drive business value, leveraging internal and external data sources.

Commit to improving your knowledge of decision science, communicating data, domain modelling, predictive modelling, advanced analytics, MLOps, Research and AI Ethics.

Mentor junior data scientists.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

To succeed in this role you will have a strong background in statistics, machine learning and data analysis, along with a proven track record of delivering impactful insights and solutions.

Fluency in Python or R, and experience with at least one cloud provider.

Relevant degree education – Software Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar.

4+ years of experience in data science and machine learning, with a strong track record of independent research and development a plus.

Technical background, with experience in a range of machine learning algorithms and data science techniques.

Experience in retail, utilities, or financial services industries (beneficial)

Experience with GISc (raster & vector-based workflows), graph theory, time series modelling and XAI (beneficial)
