This is an excellent opportunity for a SENIOR FULL STACK ENGINEER to build the checkout experience behind Africa’s leading payments portal used by millions of e-commerce users.

This REMOTE (South Africa) SENIOR FULL STACK ENGINEER role is paying R1.4M – R1.6M.

Backed by a $31 million Series A investment in 2023 from a global fintech growth fund, they are expanding rapidly and building the infrastructure to support the next wave of digital commerce on the continent.

THE ROLE:

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll build the checkout experience behind Africa’s leading payments portal used by millions of e-commerce users, across multiple markets. Working in the Commerce team, you’ll design and deliver secure, scalable, and compliant payment experiences. You’ll contribute across the full stack using Python, TypeScript, and AWS serverless services including Lambda, API Gateway, and S3, while working hands-on with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical ability and architectural thinking. You’ll be responsible for everything from designing and building new features to diagnosing production issues using logs, monitoring tools, and code analysis. You’ll also provide technical leadership within the team, contributing to design decisions, supporting modern best practices, and collaborating with product and external partners to continuously improve the checkout experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

7+ years of full stack engineering experience

Strong Python and TypeScript development skills

Solid AWS experience with Lambda, API Gateway, and Serverless architecture

Experience with both relational & NoSQL databases such as MySQL & MongoDB

Experience in payments, e-commerce, or high-throughput transactional systems (advantageous)
