This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER to be the CTO of a leading PRIVATE TERTIARY EDUCATION COLLEGE.
This CTO role can be worked REMOTELY; however, it is preferred that you live in CAPE TOWN or JOHANNESBURG.
SALARY on offer is R1.3M – R1.6M.
THE COMPANY:
This is an established and hugely successful Private TERTIARY EDUCATION COLLEGE. With campuses throughout South Africa and a GLOBAL online presence, they provide specialist tertiary tuition to 5000 students – through onsite learning, E-Learning, and a full suite of online educational programs.
THE ROLE:
You will join as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), taking full charge of current and future tech initiatives and advancements. You will control the development and implementation of effective tech strategies that support and enhance business operations and vision, including technology infrastructure, information systems, management information, and development solutions.
You will lead the business’s entire tech resources and utilisation, including academics technology, operations, finance, human resources, and the online/E-learning space. You will further manage the IT department, including short and long-term planning, analysis, coordination and collaboration of activities, financial budgeting, solutions procurement, license renewals, talent acquisition, supervision, evaluation, staff development and training initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
GOVERNANCE & STRATEGY:
Develop ideal solutions, oversee new tech implementation aligned with company vision. Control educational technologies and information systems. Develop policies and guidelines for system use. Advise executive and strategic management teams. Identify and mitigate technology risks for data, system, and network security. Manage data processing and regulatory compliance. Manage technology budget.
PLANNING:
Guide solutions development team to align work with company objectives. Stay updated on instructional requirements and technology for modern solutions in the education environment. Guide the research and design of automations for critical processes, ensuring deployment and implementation. Investigate and identify information system problems, provide recommendations for resolution.
IMPLEMENTATION:
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document requirements. Recommend suitable hardware, software, and systems. Coordinate phased deployment of new IT solutions. Establish and maintain data systems and tools for meaningful analysis and reporting.
STAFFING:
Develop IT department structure and resource plan. Lead cross-functional team of IT professionals, fostering innovation and maintaining productivity.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; OR 8+ years’ experience in an IT solutions, Information Management or Software Development environment.
Relevant technical certifications or experience in areas such as network administration, software development, and cybersecurity.
Knowledge of modern solutions architecture and best practises in tertiary education will be ideal, but not essential.
Familiarity with the following solution platforms will be a plus: Microsoft 365 for Education enterprise services platform; Salesforce Sales Cloud; Freshdesk CRM; NEOLMS Learning Management Platform.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
Familiarity with back-end technologies such as Node.js, LAMP/LEMP, Python, PHP, Java, SOAPXML, ASP.net, Restful web-services, etc.
Knowledge of cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, etc.
