Job Description

This is a brilliant opportunity for a SYSTEM ENGINEER to become an IT MANAGER and take ownership of all systems and infrastructure for this prestigious golf and residential estate. 

This SYSTEM ENGINEER position is based in PRETORIA and is offering up to R600K per annum.

This large community requires a range of systems and technologies to operate effectively. This includes security systems, IT infrastructure, building automation and infrastructure management.

THE ROLE:
As the SYSTEM ENGINEER, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure, including installing, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools. You will play a crucial role writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency. Additionally, you will monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify solutions and work closely with developers to implement those fixes. You will also be responsible for managing hardware and software infrastructure, both in-house and cloud, as well as updating and maintaining versioning. 

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
At least 5 years’ experience. 
TDC and VCP qualifications
IT Hardware certifications advantageous, i.e. (MSCE, RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Server+)
Experience using client, console, and web-based management tools.
Data Center experience
Advanced troubleshooting skills
Experience working on:
•    Windows and Linux Server environments
•    Networking
•    Virtualised environments (VMware)
•    Various firewall devices and VPN technologies
Deep understanding of infrastructure/ network concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, Virtualization, VMware)
Exposure to ITIL and COBIT is advantageous.
